The weather in Alaska is never that predictable and can change very rapidly; in fact some say you can get all four seasons in a single day !
Despite the bitterly cold winters, on the coast, the climate is generally milder than inland. Temperatures range from highs in the mid 50s Fahrenheit in May to mid 60s in August with lows from the low 40s to low 50s. However, being that far north, you can expect around 18 hours of daylight in mid summer.

One thing you can expect is a lot of rain; Ketchikan for example get 150 inches (380 cms) per year, with more falling in August and September than in May, June and July. There is also a chance of snow but it is more likely during the months from October through to April.
